Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Wins $1.3 Million High-Power Amplifier Order to Expand Direct-to-Home Internet Service

MELVILLE, N.Y., Jun 29, 2009 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced today that its Santa Clara, California-based subsidiary, Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc., has received an order for $1.3M in high-power traveling wave tube amplifier (TWTA) equipment for satellite communications. The TWTA's will support uplink transmission for direct-to-home (DTH) high-speed Internet access over satellite.

The award is for state-of-the-art, high-power TWTA's designed to operate in the emerging Ka-band frequency, which is well-suited for DTH applications. Ka-band offers end-users extended bandwidth, making it ideal for high data rate applications such as video and always-on Internet access.
