Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Receives $1.1 Million SATCOM Equipment Order From the U.S. Government

MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct 1, 2009 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced today that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $1.1 million satellite communications equipment order from the U.S. government. The equipment will be used to support the government's satellite-based communications infrastructure.
The order includes Comtech EF Data's SLM-5650A Satellite Modems and redundancy switches. The SLM-5650A Satellite Modem is compliant with the strict requirements defined in MIL-STD-188-165A, modem types I, II, IV, V and VI for applications on the Defense Satellite Communications System, Wideband Global SATCOM system, and commercial satellites. The SLM-5650A Satellite Modem features performance and bandwidth savings technologies, including advanced forward error correction and modulation capabilities, DoubleTalk® Carrier-in-Carrier® bandwidth compression, and integration with Comtech's fully automated network and capacity management, Vipersat Management System.
