MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
December 6, 2016--Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL)
announced today that its Commercial Solutions segment recently enabled
Text-to-9-1-1 functionality in an additional twenty-eight 9-1-1 Public
Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across 14 states. Comtech's efforts to
simplify the deployment of Text-to-9-1-1 continue to accelerate the
adoption by PSAPs interested in receiving Text-to-9-1-1 messages.
Comtech now provides Text-to-9-1-1 to over 900 PSAPs across the U.S.,
with over 100 PSAPs in progress.
"As a U.S. leader in Short Message Service (SMS) and a global leader in
location technology, Comtech has been working to advance the ability to
send text messages to 9-1-1 as the first step in delivering the value of
data - text, pictures and video - during an emergency situation," said
Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech
Telecommunications Corp. "In addition to the national Text-to-9-1-1
deployment that TCS is supporting, our SMS9-1-1 solutions will
seamlessly transition to multimedia capabilities beyond text as the
evolution to next generation 9-1-1 continues. We will continue to base
our solution on standards that provide the smoothest path to
interoperability and next generation functionality for PSAPs."
